Collectors Universe, Inc. Names New Executive Line Up
For Its Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) Division
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., February 10, 2003 -- Professional Coin Grading Service
(PCGS), the world's largest independent third-party rare coin authentication
service and a division of Collectors Universe, Inc. (Nasdaq: CLCT), announced
today that company founder, David Hall, will assume the responsibilities of
President of PCGS. It was also announced that Mike Sherman will assume the
responsibilities of Senior Vice-President of PCGS and Miles Standish will
assume the responsibilities of Senior Vice President of Business Development.
Hall also will maintain his position as President, Collectors Universe.
Sherman will also continue overseeing the operations of the PCGS'
stamp-grading sister company, Professional Stamp Experts (PSE). Standish
will also continue as a senior grader with PCGS.
In making the appointments, Collectors Universe CEO, Michael Haynes, stated:

foremost expert on third-party coin grading as our business leader. In
addition, having excellent senior leadership in two experienced numismatists
and businessmen such as Mike Sherman and Miles Standish only further enhances

the services of PCGS."
Hall was one of the founders of PCGS in 1986 and served as it's CEO until
1999, when Collectors Universe went public. He is considered one of the
market's top rare coin grading experts and credited with many of PCGS'
innovations, the latest being the influential PCGS Set Registry that is a
significant factor in today's numismatic marketplace resurgence. Mike
Sherman was formerly a senior manager with Heritage Rare Coin Galleries from
1979 to 1998 and Vice-President of Jefferson Coin & Bullion from 1998 to
1999. Sherman joined Collectors Universe in 1999.
Hall stated: "While I have been somewhat involved with PCGS during the past
four years, I am very excited that my new role will now allow me to devote
much more of my time to PCGS. I look forward to working with our new Senior
