PNG Presents Chet Krause
With Lifetime Achievement Award
(Milwaukee, Wisconsin, August 7, 2007) – The Professional Numismatists
Guild (www.PNGdealers.com) has honored Chet Krause, the well-known founder
of Numismatic News and other hobby publications, with the PNG’s
Lifetime Achievement Award.
“Since October 13, 1952, when the first issue of Numismatic News was
composed on the dining room table in his family’s home, Chet Krause of
Iola, Wisconsin has been an important and influential leader in the hobby and
profession. Hundreds of periodicals, reference books and trade shows
produced under his leadership have helped millions of collectors and dealers
around the world. With gratitude and admiration for his devotion to numismatics
and significant achievements, the Professional Numismatists Guild presents
Chet Krause with the PNG Lifetime Achievement Award,” said Robert Brueggeman,
PNG Executive Director.

The award was announced during the PNG Day banquet in Milwaukee, Wisconsin
on August 7, 2007.
PNG President Jeff Garrett of Kentucky was surprised with the Significant Contribution
Award for his exceptional, beneficial efforts on behalf of the organization
during his presidency the past two years as well as his earlier work supporting
PNG, the hobby and profession.

Author and researcher, Robert A. Levinson, was given the Robert Friedberg
Literary Award in recognition for his book, “The Early Dated Coins of
Europe 1234 – 1500.” The reference catalog provides the first
comprehensive listing in chronological order by region, state and mint all
the known types of gold, silver and copper coins struck in medieval Europe
with the date of 1500 or earlier.

PNG also bestowed its third annual Art Kagin Ambassador Award. The honor
is named after a former PNG President who passed away in 2005. This
year’s Kagin Award was presented to Michael “Killer” Kelly
of Port St. Lucie, Florida for his distinguished service as an advocate of
numismatic goodwill and his decades of helpful assistance to collectors and
dealers.

Garrett and Barry Stuppler of California, President-elect of the American
Numismatic Association, were recognized for 25 years of membership in the Guild.
The PNG is a nonprofit trade association composed of the country’s top
rare coin and paper money dealers. There are PNG member-dealers in the
United States and seven other countries, and all must adhere to a strict Code
of Ethics in the buying and selling of numismatic merchandise and must support
a Collector’s Bill of Rights.
